Program Re-opening July 1, 2024

Starting July 1, 2024, the MSFH program will reopen its portal for homeowners. New funding will follow prioritization requirements set by the Legislature.
Applications will be accepted and prioritized in 15-day increments as follows:

  • ‍July 1 – July 15: Low-income homeowners age 60+.
  • ‍July 16 – July 30: Low-income homeowners of any age.
  • ‍July 31 – August 14: Moderate-income homeowners age 60+.
  • ‍August 31: All other eligible Florida homeowners.
  • ‍August 15 – August 30: Moderate-income homeowners of any age.

Income Level Definitions:

  • Low income: 80% or less of the median household income of your county.
  • Moderate income: 120% or less of the median household income of your county.

Roof & Structure Improvements

When recommended by your home hurricane inspection, program grant money is available for the following strengthening improvements:

  • Reinforce roof-to-wall connection.
  • Install secondary water resistance for the roof.
  • Upgrade roof covering.
  • Improve the strength of roof deck attachments.

*Please note: Townhouses are not eligible for roof improvements.

Get Insurance Savings

The program was established to fortify Florida homes against hurricanes and help homeowners save money.

  • You may be eligible for a Matching grant where the state provides $2 for every $1 you contribute, covering up to 2/3 of the project cost, with a maximum of $10,000.
  • Participating in the program can potentially lower your home insurance premiums.
